Wrist Strap vs Wrist Band, What's The Difference?

Good morning everyone,

My quality department informed us of a change to a standard and it talks about wrist straps & wrist bands. Can someone explain the difference between the them. The JSED625C.01 has a different test requirement for each. Currently, we use metal wrist straps (or bands). I’m not sure what the difference is and now I’m confused. I’ve seen metal and fabric called wrist straps.

Thanks

From ANSI/ESD S1.1 - Wrist Straps

wristband. The portion of the wrist strap worn on the wrist. The wristband maintains electrical contact with a person’s skin.
NOTE: Some earlier versions of the document referred to the wristband as a cuff.

wrist strap. An assembled device consisting of a wristband and ground cord that provides an electrical connection of a person’s skin to ground.

Hope this helps.
