What is the best way to test an ESD Safe Wheel?

My team and I are designing a new assembly cart and we have 4 ESD Safe wheels on them but, we did not validate the wheels before installing them. I’ll be doing that testing today. I’m curious to know how others have done this testing. My idea was to isolate the wheel and do a point to point using alligator clips to have a secure connection.

Any suggestions or official testing methods?

Zachariah,

ANSI/ESD STM4.1 has qualification test methods for mobile equipment. Below are some pictures showing the recommended ways to measure. If you are qualifying the carts for compliance to ANSI/ESD S20.20, I recommend purchasing STM4.1 from the ESDA website for more information.

Hello,
Greetings of the day from to all from India .
Well recently one my customers had asked me to check his ESD wheels which I did test and my report details as under . Hope it may be of some assistance to you .

The reference standards were ANSI ESD STM 12.1 and 11.12 . Though ANSI ESD STM 11.12 is with concentric probe for planar materials, here I used two 5 lb probes instead, sandwiching the wheel between the two probes and connecting them to an SRM 10/100v

Thank you
