S20.20 on ISO9001

Good day experts.

would like to ask how come that the requirement of ISO9001 is being checked during ESD audit? if we are to certify with ANSI and questions is related to ISO9001 requirement, how they can justify that the audit is valid? say requirement for product selection process and supplier management. this is not written in S20.20. how can the audit be validated?

thank you.

It is common for the certification bodies (i.e., auditors) to ask whether the organization has an implemented and/or certified quality management system (QMS) such as ISO 9001, AS 9100, or IATF 16949. If the organization does have an implemented QMS they have increased confidence of the organizations administrative controls, such as training, documentation, etc.

You are correct, a QMS is not explicitly required in ANSI/ESD S20.20. Can you provide additional information as to what ISO 9001 questions are being asked?

Hi Matt,
thank you for your reply.
requirement like control of non-conforming products or materials, purchasing system or esd related contracts and some exclusion statement and documentation of exclusion on the requirement.

thanks.
