Measurement method for PED-718- ESD Event Detector

Hello ESD Experts,

We have an ESD Event Detector (PED-718), however the measurement method for this equipment is not clearly defined anywhere in our ESD standards. For example, ANSI/ESD TR53 provides the measurement methods for ANSI/ESD S20.20 equipment, along with reference pictures.

Could you please support us in understanding the actual measurement method and applicable guidelines for using the ESD Event Detector as per the ESD standards?

First of all , an ESD Event Detector is primarily used for Process Assessment rather than for routine Compliance Verification.
Yes it is not defined in any ESD standard to use any specific instrument or equipment for any type of test except for the basic features what that particular instrument or equipment must be capable to carryout the tests to measure or verify the required parameters.

I hope you are referring to the Prostat make PED-718 ESD Event Detector which can
Detect, Locate and Identify the ESD events in process which is basically to asses and record the magnitude of an ESD event to ensure or to detect about your ESD protection in the process is satisfactory or require any corrective actions.

Process assessment is basically an evaluation of the interaction between the product, the automated machinery in the ambient condition at an EPA and thus an ESD event Detector is an assessment and a real-time risk analysis tool

While I have not gone through in detail , perhaps ANSI /ESD SP17.1-2026 may give you some detailed information to you to answer your question to understand the actual measurement method.
