If ESDS items are put in ESD protective boxes without the lid on the top, can we say it meets ANSI/ESD S20.20-2021 requirements?
An ESD protective box without a lid may be considered an acceptable form of packaging depending on how it is used. For example, if the box is used within an EPA it is likely acceptable as personnel and items that are likely to be in proximity to the ESDS item(s) inside are controlled, however it is likely not acceptable for use outside an EPA – unless the ESDS item(s) are shielded in some way.
As with all packaging, it must be qualified and captured within the compliance verification plan.
