My goal is to switch from Grounding/Drag Chains to ESD Wheels but, the cost is not allowing this to happen. How many wheels are needed to be compliant?
You’d have to test to verify but i believe the minimum to make a cart complaint would be 1 wheel with one grounding post and conductive sleeves for the shelves.
Yes, one wheel would be effective as long as you have a good ground path to all levels of your cart. As mentioned in the previous response, you need to measure and verify.
We try to have a minimum of 2 conductive casters, as there is only about 1cm^2 surface area touching the conductive floor, it doesn’t take long before it gets dirty, even with a clean floor. One label get’s stuck to a single caster and it won’t work, hence 2, usually on a diagonal.
Base on my experiences and lessons, the every wheels has one bearings at least and even more bearings, the lubrication system and mechanical rotational system must lead to the Grounding R out of 1.0*10∧9Ω;the copper wire braid shield cable added metal block maybe is thebetter solution。
