I would like to seek your guidance regarding the correct grounding cable specifications, lugs, and connectors to be used for providing ground connections to fixtures, jigs, machines, and workstations.
Currently, at our site, we are using 2.5 sq.mm green/yellow cable, crimp ring terminal lugs, and banana (male/female) connectors. However, we have observed that the grounding connection sometimes becomes loose or gets disconnected from the lugs/connectors.
Could you please suggest:
The recommended type/specification of grounding cable
Suitable lugs and connectors
Any better grounding mechanism or best practice that can help prevent such issues and ensure reliable grounding continuity
Your suggestions and recommendations would be highly appreciated.
I don’t have any suggested lugs or wire sizes but I would make sure the person crimping the wire to the lug does it properly (i.e. uses the correct crimp tool, doesn’t insert the insulation into the lug, etc.). If the lug is coming loose from the screw post, you could consider lock washers.
If you are still worried about the wires coming loose from the lug, you could go to a thicker wire or add strain reliefs to the wire. Thanks
