When ordering ESD gloves I have noticed that some vendors state that the gloves are ANSI rated while others may just state that the gloves are anti-static. The gloves are used in our electronics assembly process directly touching sensitive assemblies with a user adequately grounded. I was reading STM15.1 which shows that it is for gloves that are 1.0 x 10 11 ohms. When choosing gloves for our facility ESD program do gloves need to be specifically ANSI rated or would they still be acceptable as long as the gloves are anti-static and rated at 1.0 x 10 11 ohms or less?

Well , ANSI ESD STM 15.1 ( shortly the 2026 version coming out ) the system resistance need to be less than 1 x 10^11 ohms provided it is tested and passed at preconditioning Rh% 12+/_ 3 and temperature at 20-26 ^C
The word Antistatic is no more in the ESD terminology and is referred to as Low static generators supposed to be with resistance range under 1 x 10^11 ohms tested under details mentioned above .Most of the gloves do pass at the ambient conditions but NOT getting passed at the Product qualification level.
Thus it is essential to know the basic requirements before physically start using any EPEs.
Thank you .
ANSI/ESD S20.20 is open for review and updating. One of the items that is being considered are gloves and finger cots. The “proposed” requirement at this time is for a resistance of the glove as worn to be less than 1x10*9 as tested by ANSI/ESD STM 15.1.
The complaince verification would be to TR53 which is also being updated at this time.
The plan is to release both ANSI/ESD S20.20 and TR53 at the same time.

Thank you JK sir for the updated information.
Is the next version of ANSI ESD S 20 20 open for industry review ?
thank you again
Not yet, the standard is still within the working group.
Greetings of the day Sir
Thank you for your update JK Sir
With Due Regards
So the update would change from 1x1011 to 1x109?
The limits are still be discussed. The proposed limit is 10*9 as worn. It will be discussed at the next meeting series.
