ESD Clean-Room ISO 7 which is EPA Zone

Hi good Peoples
We have a Clean room ISO 7. which is EPA Zone. where we need to wear a CAP to cover the hairs.
i could not find any explicitly Instruction in Standards. not not IEC neither in ANSI. can we use none ESD CAP to cover the head?
If not what are the RISK?

Can we make a Tailoring for this, with Instruction to our Operators?

Khassam,

The closest thing in the standards about a cap would be an ESD garment which is an optional ESD control item usually used to reduce the risk of an electric field emanating from the body of an operator that could induce a charge on an ESD sensitive item. Since the head of an operator is usually not close to the ESD sensitive item, the chances are remote that it could induce a charge and thus a “ESD safe” cap is probably not needed. There would be no need to write a tailoring statement since the cap would, at best, be considered an optional ESD control item.

Grettings of the day from India.
As our ESDA expert Andy Sir has mentioned , Cap is under ESD garment category which is optional subject to users choice and the environment - sensitivity of your job or the device being handled.
In my opinion, the main idea or purpose of using cap/hood is for the following reasons.

  1. Most people have dry hair
  2. Most people have the habit of scratching their hair often which is a violation in an EPA
  3. Most of the Female operators often have long hair which will be another threat while at work in an EPA
    As Andy Sir has cleared , no need for any Tailoring statement but it can be included in your ESD control program plan .
    Basically the ESD control Program plan is what exactly you will follow and record the events , check and take further corrective actions if required any.
