The goal of my teams current project is to find a durable, ESD safe material to assemble on, that will not scratch metal panels if dragged across them.
I found a material called PC-300™, has anyone had experience with this material?
Any suggestions on what material we could use?
Is that not may be any transparent sheet used as glass for machines? So, in my opinion there are only surfaces dissipative, but inner material as volume it is insulator. But it can be some new material designed to work from one surface to second, no idea.
Think twice if you want to use this. See rather at dissipative/ conductive POM or polyamide conductive enough. Or may be polyethylene PE 1000 ?

Well now a days there are good volumetric static dissipative sheets are available in the market. But as per Mr. Ireneusz Pilsniak it is good to think of conductive polymide or even 5 or 7ply conductive corrugated PP sheets which are widely used now a days for used for customized packaging and storage systems in the EPA s .

There are several options you can look at depending on your product configuration. We have some operations that uses the Conductive Containers Kleanstat material to reduce damage to components on double sided assemblies. That would most likely work for your metal concern. Other options can be some softer single layer mat materials. No matter what you choose i would make sure to validate it using the same measurements for worksurfaces to ensure proper resistance.

We’ve tried UHMW, the problem we’re having with that material is that it is not hard enough. The Units we are building are leaving deep grooves which will then scratch other Units. The main goal of the project is to reduce/remove the potential for scratches. I’m currently thinking of adding an ESD safe epoxy coating to the UHMW.
Have you looked into some of the different conductive “foams”? There are some more robust ones available that provide just enough give for heavier items. We implemented some for use with a larger unit that when we were performing closing work, some of the outer switches/knobs were getting scuffed or damaged.

We hadn’t considered foams, do you have a specific foam in mind? I’d like to look into it more and get some info together to present to the team.
Why put foam in quotes? Is it not foam?
I dont have a specific one in mind but most of the packaging manufacturers like Protective Pak, CCI… have different materials like this you can look at using. Most of them you can get at different thicknesses and sizes. I put foam in quotes because foam is the best way to describe those materials, but some of them technically may not be a true foam.

For the job you have specified , I would propose ESD safe EVA foam of 12-24 mm thick as the best supporting base depending upon the weight of the unit that you would be dragging over it .
