Hello

When doing product qualification for footwear/flooring system, does it qualify that manufacturers shoes that fulfill the same specs (See picture)? or do I have to make this test per different sizes?

Santiago,

The specs you list do not have to be the same for the footwear and flooring. This information is more useful to identify the types used in your factory. The key is how they work together in both the resistance test per ANSI/ESD STM97.1 and the walking voltage test per ANSI/ESD STM97.2. Keep in mind these tests need to be done in the low humidity environment mentioned in the above STMs or in the lowest annual humidity of the factory for flooring systems that are already installed per ANSI/ESD S20.20.

You do not have to test different sizes of the same shoe type, but you do have to test all shoe and flooring types with each other. So if you have two different flooring types in your factory like some tiles in one place and painted concrete in another and also use three different types of footwear like one type of foot grounders, ESD athletic shoes, and ESD dress shoes; you would need to do (2 x 3) 6 different tests to qualify all footwear and flooring combinations you may use in your factory

Hello,
Greetings of the day to all from India

In addition Andy Sir’s detailed clarification I wish to add the following few lines to your information per my knowledge and understanding.

As a total ESD FOOTWEAR – FLOORING SYSTEM on an installed floor,
(All tests-Minimum 5 tests (at 5 different locations) per every \</=5000 sq. ft area )
Test Report Test Methods required to be followed per
ANSI-ESD STM7.1: Floor Materials—Resistance Characteristics Measurements
ANSI-ESD STM97.1: Floor Materials and Footwear—Resistance Measurements in Combination with the Person ANSI-ESD STM97.2: Floor Materials and Footwear -Voltage Measurement in Combination with the Person
Compliance verification: - Per ANSI -ESD TR 53-01-22

Initially, it is very essential to test the Basic Foot wear for its Resistance Characteristics Measurements per ANSI-ESD STM9.1
(For all types of footwear used on the flooring material under test And, ESD FOOTWEAR – FLOORING SYSTEM tests per ANSI-ESD STM97.1 and 97.2 need to be done with each type/pair of samples of the footwear tested ).

Good day

Thank you
